It's A Wonder

One of the best things about working as a decorative painter and muralist is never having to repeat the same project. Sure, some of the techniques I use are the same, but seldom, if ever, have I done the same thing twice in exactly the same way. Different colors, subject matter, or just a twist, here or there in the process makes each job unique. Keeps you on your game creatively. You just never know what will pop up with each new client.

Another "first" for me recently was a mural depicting one of the Seven Wonders of the World- specifically, the Taj Mahal. A bit intimidating initially, awesome architecturally, it took some creative thinking to paint it's essence without adding all of the time robbing details of every stone. Painted on a large wall in a meditation room, it needed to be both calming and inspiring.
In the end, it's absolute power as a well known landmark made it easier to pull off.

I added a second "Taj" as a travel poster in the young son's bedroom done in a world travel theme. It contains a huge wall painted with the world map, along with more travel posters- a giant Panda representing China and a local architectural feature showing "home". It's a great room for the 3-year old to grow up with as he travels with his family learning geography along the way.
