Black and Gold

One of my favorite marbles is called Porturo, or black and gold. You've probably seen it many times-from the huge columns at the Nelson-Atkins museum- to antique clocks and small lamp bases over the years.  In fact, it wasn't mined for many years due to lack of supply, but it is available again, I'm sure at an astronomical price.  Just completed a mantle in a beautiful home near the Plaza--here are a few pics... Keep in mind the varnish, which gives it a honed look is just starting to dry, so there are shiny. wet areas which will dry out evenly--rushed the pics!

Anticipation

In a total about face from last year, when we were already battling the beginning of a drought--this Spring has been cool and wet.  Everything in the garden has been running around a month later than usual in development.  All the rain and cooler temps have combined to make my garden really lush this year. I'm anticipating a lot more bloom this year--the peonies were spectacular, the hydrangeas  (Oak Leaf) are in full bloom, and the Annabelles are just about ready to start turning white.  Here are a few pics of the Wisteria.  More pics as Spring progresses into summer...
